Primary Sources.

A primary source is a first-hand account: the person who was there, saying it in their own words. This series is built that way. Long-form interviews with the people who buy scientific instruments, and with the people who spent careers selling to them, on the record. Nothing here is asserted because it sounds right. If a buyer did not say it, it is not in the series.
